All the action that went down in Cape Town at the Big Air Kite League event! Many of Big Air’s best riders have remained in Cape Town in hopes of scoring some proper sessions without the crowds, which made for a world-class lineup at the event! Rob Claisse from Progression Sports took one for the team and suffered through the 40-knot sandblaster at Dolphin Beach to capture some of the action and the gnarly conditions (and crashes) that the riders endured competing for the podium. Strap in for the action and watch this video!

“What a great day yesterday at the Big Air Kite League event at Dolphin Beach, SA. Amazing to see so many of the top guys still going full send in every heat, even without the chance of any real prize money or becoming the “King”, instead just putting on an amazing show. And hats off to the BAKL for showing you can run a BIG event well, with hard work and no real budget!

Here’s a quick edit with a few of my favourite shots – great opportunity to test my new Canon Xf705 camera, perfect for shooting stuff like this.

Pro Results:
1st: Ross-Dillon Player
2nd : Aaron Hadlow
3rd: Steven Akkersdijk

Congrats to Ross-Dillon Player for claiming the top spot in what was probably one of the windiest big air events Cape Town has seen – it was scary to watch how close his megaloops were right along the shoreline! And sorry for the lack of clips of RDP – I only shot up to the semi’s and only released afterwards I was focusing on the wrong Naish rider in his heats, doh!”
