At A Glance

An entirely new board from kitesurf giants Cabrinha Kiteboarding, the Cutlass has been designed to suit those real-world conditions of smaller waves and lighter winds, and for those riders who mix it up between freestyle and classic wave riding.

The Cutlass has a short, broad outline with volume added at the nose of the board which will carry you through the lulls with speed, and maintain fantastic feedback for rail to rail transfers and airstyle manoeuvres.

The long elongated straight rails of the board with the larger top section have been designed to allow a better pop off the water for freestyle tricks, and its lightweight nature adds to this.

The Cutlass has a quad fin set up to increase board speed and enable faster down the line riding.

The board itself is made with extra tough bamboo construction, which not only looks fantastic but also has solid eco credentials too. There are inserts for straps should you wish to use them, and the board comes equipped with an oversized tail pad and the option of adding a front pad should you wish.

Sizes: 5’2” x 18.75” x 2.04” - 21.45L / 5’5” x 19.6” x 2.08” - 24.09L

“Incredible in light airs, crap waves and great for strapless freestyle too.”

On The Water

The Cutlass is one of those rare boards that anyone could jump on and get something out of. We instantly felt at home, and the same was said by a rider who borrowed it at the beach to have their first ever go on a surfboard.

The wide platform underfoot allows for easy planning and makes it incredibly forgiving which is handy if you don’t get your foot in the right spot straight away. Tacking and gybing is a doddle thanks to the fast flowing, smooth nature of the board which again carriers you through any small mistakes on your part.

The volume in the front third of the board is really noticeable, and this really encourages spins to be added and boosts to be sent. For strapless freestyle, the Cutlass proved to be all out fun from start to finish, lighter than many boards in this genre it has a confidence inspiring energy which translates to simply more and more fun.

Overall

Cabrinha have created a board which can be used, and in fact excel, in the conditions, many of us shy away from. The greater volume at the front of the board allows it to rocket through those lulls in both the wind and waves. The poppy nature of the board and stability in the air aids strapless freestyle progression like no other. The Cutlass does all this while looking fantastic with a fresh bamboo look.
