Having loved my first ION Nova harness in 2023, when I heard I was being sent the 2025 Nova to test, I couldn’t wait to get my hands on it—and I have to say, it didn’t disappoint. Unboxing the harness, the Scarlet Red colour immediately caught my attention. It’s different from the usual tones you’d see on the beach, but it didn’t look out of place either! Straight out of the box, the Nova felt solid. Every detail is considered, and the harness has that clean, high-quality finish I’ve come to expect from ION. Designed with a medium-soft flex, the Nova hits that perfect balance between secure fit and freedom of movement. When I put it on, it hugged my waist perfectly, thanks to the internal Flex_Belt and easy-to-adjust PVC buckles (on both sides)

On the Water
Hands down one of the most comfortable harnesses I’ve worn on the water! It stayed perfectly in place, didn’t ride up. Whether cruising or edging hard, it offered all the support I needed while letting me move freely. The updated Spectre Bar 2 clicks in quickly, and the removable Spectre Flaps do a great job at preventing the spreader bar from twisting. The Ergo_Pad offers real lower back support, which made a noticeable difference during my session. The new 3D PLUS_Spine structure provides extra reinforcement exactly where you need it. I also love the practical touches like the Kite_Knife Multitool and adjustable leash D-ring, which show ION’s attention to detail. The HD_Foam kept was super light, and it felt good not to drag around a waterlogged harness after my session!
Overall
This is my second Nova, and it’s already a firm favourite. From the bold Scarlet Red colour to the incredible comfort and support on the water, I’m genuinely impressed. It’s clear that this harness was thoughtfully designed with female riders in mind—it performs perfectly whether you’re cruising or sending it. If you’re looking for a harness that combines standout style, a secure fit, and reliable performance session after session, the 2025 ION Nova is well worth a look!
