At a Glance
The ION Seek Core 4/3 Front Zip is a reliable, flexible wetsuit that delivers warmth, comfort, and performance at a really fair price. Unboxing the wetsuit, I was surprised at how soft it was. Built entirely neoprene-free, it uses natural rubber sourced from oyster shell powder, soybean oil, and eco-carbon black, making it a genuinely sustainable choice without compromising on feel or durability.
Inside, you’ll find Hot_Stuff 3.0, a recycled-fibre lining that provides impressive insulation through the torso, and Silk_Stuff 2.0 across the chest, arms, and legs for that soft, stretchy comfort that ION does so well. The minimal seam design keeps it flexible, while seam-free shoulders give you extra range of motion; something I really noticed on the water. Being more freestyle-oriented, this was something I noticed immediately and really appreciated.
The front-zip entry is smooth and practical, featuring a soft cord lock that’s easy to adjust with one hand, even when your fingers are cold, which we’re used to in the UK! Reinforced stress points at the knees and crotch add to its long-term durability, making this a suit built to last.
On the Water
I tested the Seek Core 4/3 during springtime sessions in a cold Northerly breeze in Whitstable, Kent, when the North Sea is generally cold. It was a strong performer. The warmth level was spot on for a session that I would not ally grab my 5-4 suit for. The flexibility really stood out, so much so that I barely noticed I was wearing it. During freestyle sessions, the suit moved exactly how I wanted it to. There was no stiffness or restriction, even when unhooking. The soft inner lining feels great against the skin, and you can tell how well the minimal panel design and Silk_Stuff 2.0 lining work together to keep it feeling light and easy.
I also wore it at the cable park, where flexibility is everything, and again, it was faultless. The suit bends and stretches naturally, with no resistance through the shoulders. The Water Defender legs and drain holes at the chest and thighs are a small touch that made a big difference and kept the suit from holding any water, which meant I could stay comfortable and focused on my session.
Overall
The Seek Core 4/3 Front Zip is the kind of wetsuit that costs more than it does. It’s warm, soft, flexible, and packed with smart design details that make every session easier. The sustainability side of it is a big win too, knowing it’s neoprene-free and made from natural and recycled materials, feels like the direction all wetsuits should be heading and my preference when searching for a new suit.
If you’re after a wetsuit that’s light, warm, and genuinely comfortable with solid eco credentials, this one’s an easy recommendation! And that flexibility is second to none!
