Ozone have been pushing the limits of the sport for some time now, they lead the charge with high-performance foil kites for light wind a race use when the Chrono burst onto the scene a couple of years ago. Since then the kite has evolved into a more freeride orientated machine while it spawned the R1 as the racing thoroughbred. As a company Ozone never stop developing their products and now we have the all new Chrono V2 and the R1 V2 hitting the market, find out everything you need to know about these kites below, oh and if you haven’t tried a foil kite yet in light winds, make sure you do this summer, it might just change your life!

The Chrono V2 is the ultimate all-around foil kite, delivering outstanding performance on all surfaces- water, land or snow. The Chrono V2 covers all riding styles including freeride, light wind, boosting, foiling and racing.

Our design goal with the second version was to take the original Chrono’s high-performance characteristics and make it easier to use for riders looking for all-round ability in any conditions on any surface.

The Chrono V2 is more stable and easier to inflate; additionally, this model has thicker sheathed Dyneema bridle lines to reduce tangles on the ground. New sizes cover a wider range of conditions to personalise your high-performance quiver.

The Chrono V2 is for experienced riders with good kite control skills or previous foil kite experience. It is not difficult to fly, but there are specific techniques required to ground handle and fly high aspect ratio foil kites safely.

Experienced riders will find themselves at home with the Chrono V2. On the water with a twin-tip, the Chrono V2’s large sizes are light wind monsters – loads of power, easy to jump and stable. Due to the abundance of power and efficiency, gaining upwind ground is ridiculously easy. In light wind, it is impressive how high and floaty jumps can be! When the wind picks up and you are looking for serious height, the smaller sizes really shine, no question at all. These are pop and go big machines, just edge hard and send it, too easy!

When riding with a foil or race board, the benefits are immediately noticeable thanks to the longer lifting period a foil kite provides during that critical tacking moment compared to an LEI. The combined performance of the kite and these types of boards makes 4 knot riding a true reality.

On the snow, the Chrono V2 takes the sport to another level by providing more power and performance in light winds, extended jump and flight time with a much better glide angle. The improved handling makes it possible to ride in lighter wind by generating apparent speed, which means you can take a smaller size.

On the land, the gains we have made in kite stability mean that you can work on your landboard freestyle moves without worrying about the kite collapsing or falling out of the sky. For buggy riders, the improvements mean freestyle or racing maneuvers are easy and more intuitive, with smoother coordinated handling.

R1 V2

Race performance at its best yet – the all-new R1 V2. The R1 V2 takes a completely new approach to high aspect foil kite design by once again raising the standard of performance and feeling. If racing performance and speed categorise your kiting desire, take a serious look at the R1 V2 – a brand new design that is destined to take any performance seeker or competitive kite-racer to new heights, on all surfaces, and to the podium!

We have packed every ounce of new technology into this kite – without packing the weight on. The R1 V2 saves over 30% in weight compared to the V1! This translates to true performance increases – the kite inflates quicker, flies faster and is more reactive even in the lightest breeze. The kite is more stable at the edge of the wind window and has much better drive downwind, with a lighter feeling on the bar in general.

Incorporating our new high-performance Ultra Light materials not only reduced weight, it also allowed our design team to completely re-work the internal structure and load distribution frame. Advanced internal layouts with new tension and sail shaping technology, combined with an all new bridle line plan reducing total line consumption, sets a new norm in high-performance foil kite design.

We teamed up with the world’s top kite racers to maximise our Research & Development programme. Each size R1 V2 has been individually designed, tested and fine-tuned to inherit the unique Ozone feeling and performance across the range. Our new Pro-Tune Speed System offers minute adjustment to keep the kite performing at its best in the correct trim.

The R1 V2 is a true race pedigree kite that will inspire confidence while delivering superior racing performance on water, land or snow.
