Why Visit?
Margaret River is possibly one of the most beautiful places you will ever see. You can kiteboard every day from October through to March. We have two main sea breezes; the SW that blows from about lunch time to 5 and the SE that blows from 6 to midnight. Margaret River is mainly suited to the experienced kiteboarders due to the shallow reef and large waves. Augusta which is situated half an hour down the road is perfect for beginners through to the core freestylers. Augusta is a large spit that runs 2km down the beach with small waves to ride on one side and butter flat water on the other.
Wind and Weather
The Wind blows consistently from October through to March. The average wind strength is around 20knts, and occasionally we get days in the high 30’s. Augusta consistently gets up to 30knts every day with the occasional 40 knot days. The water temperature is around 20 degrees, and the air temperature is approximately 26 degrees, so you only need spring wetsuits or just board shorts.
Getting Around
If you visit Margaret River you will need to have a car as there is no public transport and the main settlements of Margaret River, Augusta and Prevelly are spread out. Margaret River town is about 10km from the beach and 50km from Augusta.
Food and Drink
There is an abundance of boutique breweries, wineries, and cafes in the area. We have a local farmers market every Saturday to stock up on locally grown fruit, veg, and meats. Also, the Local Settlers Tavern serves up a mean gourmet smoked ribs from their American BBQ.
Nightlife
Margaret River is quite a small town and the nightlife sort of sucks, the best place at night would be the Settlers Tavern, they have bands playing on the weekend.
No Wind?
Although it is very rare to have no wind, there are hundreds of activities to do. You can stay busy by going mountain biking, stand up paddle boarding, surfing, fishing, kayaking and so much more.
Internet
We have an ok internet structure but can drop out and be slow at times. Mobile phone coverage is a bit iffy too.
Accommodation
We have dozens of campsites, hotels, and chalets. Everywhere gets booked up around the New year and Easter, so you need to get your reservation in early.

Where are the Best Kitesurfing Beaches in Margaret River?
One of the worlds best freestyle spots, perfect flat water and clean wind. You would have seen Augusta in numerous cover photos in mags over the years. On the ocean side of the spit, you get a fun little wave, perfect for practising airs.

Perfect beach break with cross shore winds. The waves are always pumping no matter what size swell. There is never a crowd, and you will most likely get the place to yourself.

Margaret River Main Break is worth considering only if you’re an expert wave rider. It is home to world-class waves, which can be very unforgiving, especially combined with the shallow reef they break on. Launching your kite can be quite challenging too on the rocky shore so have someone on hand to help. There are three main line-ups: Boat ramp Reef, Main Break and Bombie, a right-hander which often ends in a barrel. However, remember this is a surfers spot, so respect them in the water and other water users as it can get busy.
