The DUOTONE Neo SLS 2027 is the more performance-focused member of the Neo wave-kite family. It is designed for committed wave riders and progressive strapless-freestyle athletes who want faster steering, more immediate bar feedback and precise placement through critical sections. The kite retains the drift and stability associated with the Neo concept, but its Strong Light Superior construction gives it a lighter, stiffer and more direct character than the standard model.
Wave handling and drift
A one-piece centre strut is central to the handling design. It allows carefully controlled torsional movement as the kite turns, helping it respond quickly while remaining composed. DUOTONE says this makes it easier to position the kite in the pocket during fast down-the-line riding and to redirect it through technical turns. The rigid, balanced airframe also supports a broad wind range, with the kite intended to remain predictable from marginal power through fully powered surf conditions.
Drift remains a defining feature. The Neo SLS is designed to follow the rider with reduced line tension when the board accelerates down the face or travels directly towards the kite. This limits unwanted pull and leaves the rider freer to concentrate on the wave. The stiffer structure provides sharper feedback at the bar, making small inputs easier to translate into canopy movement. That direct response is aimed mainly at advanced riders, although stable flight and dependable relaunch characteristics also contribute to control.
SLS construction and reinforcement
Penta TX is used in the leading edge and centre strut to reduce weight and limit deformation. DUOTONE quotes around 15 percent less overall weight, five times the tear resistance and 50 percent less elongation than standard Dacron. Hybrid Flex Struts combine Penta TX with STW70 in a size-specific ratio, using progressively less flex material as kite size increases. This arrangement is intended to blend the structural support needed under load with the smoother torsional response required for rapid wave steering.
The canopy combines Trinity TX's 3x2 yarn layout with MOD 3S material, which DUOTONE specifies for improved stability, substantially greater tear resistance and reduced stretch. A single-stitch trailing edge reduces material and flutter. Lightweight micro battens, smaller micro-loop connections and leading-edge intersegment seams reinforce the low-weight, high-stiffness approach. Double-V pigtails spread the load at the flying-line attachment points to reduce local fatigue and distortion. Anti-snag webbing helps keep lines away from the wingtip, while kook-proof connectors make incorrect line attachment less likely.
Pressure, sizes and specifications
Sizes from 5m to 10m should be inflated to 9 PSI, while the 11m and 12m use 8 PSI. The 5m covers 24-40 knots and weighs 1.97kg; the 6m covers 20-37 knots at 2.16kg; the 7m covers 18-35 knots at 2.35kg; the 8m covers 16-33 knots at 2.53kg; the 9m covers 14-31 knots at 2.69kg; and the 10m covers 12-29 knots at 2.90kg. Each uses 22m lines.
The 11m is listed for 11-26 knots, uses 24m lines and weighs 3.01kg. The 12m covers 10-23 knots on 24m lines and weighs 3.19kg. Weights exclude the bag and wind ranges are manufacturer guidance rather than universal limits. Colour choices are C04 light lime with undyed panels and C06 purple with off-green panels.
