The DUOTONE Dice SLS 2027 is a performance crossover kite developed for riders who divide their time between freestyle, loops, freeride and wave sessions. Its core character is intended to be fast and reactive, with the structure and canopy control needed for powered tricks as well as the stability required when the rider moves towards the kite on a wave. DUOTONE positions it as a lively option for experienced and ambitious riders rather than a narrowly specialised freestyle or surf design.

Freestyle, loops and wave use

For powered and unhooked freestyle, the SLS airframe is designed to resist deformation while the rider edges against the kite. That structural support is intended to produce decisive pop followed by clean slack, helping the rider complete handle passes and other technical movements without an inconsistent pull. Refined load distribution and a revised strut layout keep steering direct but controlled, so the kite remains easy to locate through the bar during aggressive manoeuvres.

The same fast response supports dynamic loops and transitions. DUOTONE describes the power delivery as smooth and balanced, with optimised force transfer maintaining an even pull as the kite turns. Refined canopy tension is intended to improve tracking and stability in gusty or changing wind. For waves and strapless riding, reduced canopy movement helps the Dice SLS drift with less line tension and remain available for rapid repositioning. This combination gives the model its crossover identity: freestyle pop and loop speed are paired with drift and depowered turning rather than treated as separate versions.

Strong Light Superior construction

Penta TX replaces conventional Dacron in the leading edge and centre strut. According to DUOTONE, it produces a 15 percent reduction in overall weight, five times the tear resistance and roughly half the elongation of standard Dacron. The resulting stiffness is intended to sharpen steering and preserve the kite's profile when heavily loaded. Reinforced intersegment seams in the leading edge add strength and direct flight stability without unnecessary construction weight.

The canopy uses Trinity TX, a 3x2 yarn material developed for durability and dynamic response, together with MOD 3S for lower stretch and greater tear resistance. A single-stitch trailing edge is designed to reduce weight and flutter. Micro battens are specified as 40 percent lighter than regular versions, while micro-loop connections are also 40 percent smaller to trim weight along the leading edge. Anti-snag webbing reduces the risk of a flying line catching around a wingtip, and kook-proof connectors help prevent incorrect line attachment during rigging.

Inflation, range and specifications

DUOTONE recommends 9 PSI for sizes from 6m through 10m and 8 PSI for the 11m, 12m and 13m. The 6m covers 20-39 knots and weighs 2.09kg; the 7m covers 19-37 knots at 2.29kg; the 8m covers 17-35 knots at 2.44kg; and the 9m covers 15-33 knots at 2.64kg. These four sizes use 22m lines and an S-width bar.

The larger sizes use 24m lines and an M-width bar. The 10m is listed for 13-31 knots at 2.82kg, the 11m for 12-28 knots at 2.99kg, the 12m for 11-25 knots at 3.20kg, and the 13m for 10-22 knots at 3.39kg. All weights exclude the bag, and the quoted wind ranges remain manufacturer guidance affected by rider weight, board, skill and conditions. The range is offered in the C01 grey and purple colourway.

Summary

The DUOTONE Dice SLS 2027 is intended for accomplished riders wanting freestyle pop, clean slack, responsive loops and credible wave drift in one kite. Its defining supported strengths are the stiff Penta TX frame, controlled canopy tension, direct steering, balanced power and an unusually broad 6m-to-13m range for a performance crossover.
