The Shred is Duotone's youth-specific freeride and freestyle twin tip, scaled and tuned for younger riders rather than simply presenting an adult board in a shorter length. Its narrow outline, soft flex and early-planing shape are intended to reduce the leverage and power required to control the edge. At the same time, durable construction, useful grip and responsive carving give progressing riders room to move from basic freeride into jumps and freestyle manoeuvres.
Youth-Specific Shape
A narrower outline suits smaller feet, lighter body weight and reduced leg strength, making it easier to roll the board onto its edge and change direction. The compact platform lowers swing weight during transitions and early tricks. Space Flex technology combines a stiff outer frame with flexible tip zones, producing clean water release and smooth carving. The board is intended to plane early so younger riders can establish speed without relying on excessive kite power.
Comfort and Flex
Soft flex gives the Shred a forgiving response and helps absorb chop and landing impact. Absorption Flex Tips work with the scoop rocker to adapt as load changes: the board remains flatter for efficient low-speed planing, then the tips flex to add control and cushion when speed rises. Torsion Flex permits controlled twist along the board, improving heel-side grip and upwind drive without making the whole platform rigid. These features aim to protect comfort while still providing clear feedback.
Construction and Bottom Shape
Biax Glass creates a durable, balanced laminate suited to repeated progression use. The fibre orientation supports torsional control, smooth landings and consistent pop without the sharp response of a hard carbon board. A Double Concave Bottom guides water through two channels, improving stability, grip and planing while keeping turns predictable. Angled rails add upwind bite and a defined release for jumps, and tip channels reinforce control through carving and landings.

The Shred is produced in a single 128 x 37 cm size for riders weighing approximately 35–55 kg. It uses S-Bend FS 4.5 Glass 15 fins and has a published board weight of about 2.377 kg, with a stated tolerance of plus or minus five per cent. The compact dimensions, narrow width and weight recommendation distinguish it clearly from Duotone's adult freeride boards.
Progression and Intended Rider
The board is designed to cover the stages from comfortable freeriding and upwind practice to carving, hooked jumps and introductory freestyle. Early planing and soft flex help developing riders maintain control, while the concave bottom, angled rails and torsional structure provide enough grip for more deliberate edge loading. Its durable glass construction also recognises that a progression board must withstand repeated starts, falls and imperfect landings.
