I've been in Ecuador for the past month volunteering and it has been such an incredible experience. The hours are long, the tent nights are short and we work 6 days a week but when you see families who lost everything in the earthquake start to regain hope, it's the most amazing feeling in the world! Having been here my self, I have truly seen the impact of every donation, no mater how big or small, which all go towards materials and tools to help Ecuadorians regain their lives.
What an amazing past 2 months in the US! Having travelled through 8 states, met some truly wonderful people and seen lots of beautiful places it is now time to head to Ecuador. For the final stop of my 6 month trip I have decided to do something different, I will be joining All Hands Volunteers to help with their earthquake response program. Ecuador was hit with a 7.8 magnitude earthquake and violent aftershocks, destroying roads, bridges and power supplies. Over 20,000 people were left without homes and the death toll has reached 660 with more than 2,500 injured. I am not going to pretend that I will turn the whole country around but every little helps and even if I only give a few people hope of a better future, it will mean the world to me.
