At A Glance

The Duotone Blur D/LAB 2025 stands out in the surfboard lineup as a high-end yet surprisingly user-friendly option for medium to big waves. With a design focus on speed, control and performance, it’s aimed at riders who want to carve hard turns and be able to push the limits in challenging surf. Key features include a refined rocker profile to handle steep sections, a round tail for excellent grip in the turns, and a thruster fin set up.

The D/LAB construction features a carbon stringer, Innegra fibre layup and the Reflex Memory Foam Shock Absorber 3.0 for comfort, reduced vibration, and to eliminate any heel dents as the memory foam will always conform back to its original state.

From the get-go, it’s clear this board is intended to perform when conditions step up. What surprised us in our test, though, was how comfortable it remains across various conditions.

In The Water

When you throw the Blur into bottom turns, the grip is genuinely impressive. The tail and rail hold cleanly, even when the wave is steep or you’re hitting chop chop on the face. There’s a reassuring stability beneath you, which gives you confidence to lean in and commit.

The ride is smooth. It glides through chop, absorbing bumps in the surface without jarring you. That buttery feel is also felt on high-speed runs in big waves; the board feels composed and steady when you’re charging, rather than making you feel like you’re holding on for dear life.

What stands out most is how easy the Blur D/LAB feels to ride. Despite its high-end construction and bigger wave focus, it’s not exclusively for elite riders. It’s forgiving enough to suit a broad range of users who want performance without overly demanding handling. Yet, for those who enjoy larger surf, the board’s capabilities shine. In bigger conditions, the design really comes alive: the rocker, tail shape and stiff build make meaningful differences in how the board responds, how much speed you generate, and how you land drops or navigate transitions.

Overall

The Blur D/LAB strikes an excellent balance between performance and accessibility. If you ride regularly in moderate surf and like a board that can handle speed, is reactive and capable of stepping up, this is a great choice. If you’re hunting for bigger surf, higher speed and more drive in critical sections, this board will reward you too.

The combination of grip, high-speed stability and easy handling means you get a board that will work for many riders. It’s perfect for someone who wants one board that handles everyday surf and also steps up when the conditions ask for it.
