I remember the days when my smallest kite was a 13m and we rode around on tiny boards in strong winds! These days of course the equipment is far superior and there are specific kites designed to handle those monster conditions… Like this 5m Storm from Ocean Rodeo!

Storm – 5m
Predictable Performance In Unpredictable Conditions

“Kiting in gusty, highly variable wind is dangerous and unpredictable and is not recommended by Ocean Rodeo. However, we know there are high wind locations around the world and an element of highly skilled riders who live for the challenge of taming such places.

Rather than just being a shrunken version of an existing model, the Storm is designed from the ground up, making it different from most small kites. Built tough with extensive Dacron reinforcements, 5 struts and FST wingtips to maintain the Storm’s structural integrity in extreme conditions. The tow-point is tuned so that the kite stays balanced during gusts to prevent overflying. The turning speed is paced to match the natural lines of a hard carving kiteboard while the power delivery remains smooth in volatile winds.

The Storm incorporates over 11 years of design know-how to deliver predictable performance on big wind days. If you have the commitment to face the gnarliest conditions, be smart enough to ride with the best equipment available.”
