From starting kiteboarding in 2009 to chasing an Olympic dream, Annelous Lammerts shares her story “Road to Paris” with us!
“After competing at the freestyle European and World championships for a couple of years I changed to a brand-new discipline, kitepark. Aiming to win one of the biggest kiteboarding events, the Triple S in the USA. After winning the Triple S in 2019 and becoming the KPL world tour champion for the 2nd time, I still had a lot of motivation to keep competing. Having learned a few new tricks in winter training at the beginning of 2020, I’m thrilled for the upcoming season. But like everyone, I got stuck at home not being able to travel.
In the mean time, Casper Bouman had started the KiteFoil TeamNL with the goal of competing for a medal at the 2024 Olympics. Kiteboarding will make its Olympic debut. I wasn’t sure if racing was something for me, since it’s so different from freestyle and park. However, since had time I decided to give it a goThe team allowed me to progress quickly, and I now enjoy kitefoiling, racing, and playing thehe game!
Next year we will have the Formula Kite World Championships at home in Scheveningen. This will also be the first qualification for the Olympic Games in 2024.
