The Duotone Blur D/LAB is a premium surfboard focused on pure wave riding in medium-to-large conditions. Unlike the compact small-wave and freestyle shapes in the range, the Blur uses maximum rocker and a round tail to prioritise control on steep faces, precise turning and composure at speed. It is intended for medium-to-advanced wave riders who want to take a committed line through powerful surf and make fast adjustments in critical sections.
Wave-Focused Shape
Maximum rocker gives the board the curvature required to fit into steep wave faces and turn tightly near the pocket. This allows the rider to redirect the board without the nose projecting too far into the face during a vertical manoeuvre. The round tail narrows the release area and maintains a smooth connection through the turn, adding stability and control as speed increases. Together, these elements favour confident bottom turns, controlled down-the-line speed and precise top turns in substantial waves.
Duotone presents the Blur D/LAB as a versatile performance board for locations ranging from heavy beach breaks to fast, powerful reef waves. Its performance profile places the greatest emphasis on drive and control in big waves, while also supporting snappy turns and speed creation in medium surf. It is less oriented toward early planing or freestyle pop than the Whip, Volt or Provoke, reflecting its specialist wave-riding purpose.
D/LAB Construction
The D/LAB construction uses carbon to create a light, direct and highly responsive ride. Rider inputs are intended to transfer quickly into the board, which is important when setting a rail at speed or changing direction on a steep face. Innegra reinforcement adds vibration damping and crack resistance, helping the board withstand demanding surf while reducing harsh feedback. The combination aims to preserve sensitivity without making the board fragile or nervous underfoot.
Duotone's RMF 3.0 Shock Absorber uses Reflex Memory Foam in conjunction with the Innegra shield. The material is designed to damp high-frequency vibration and improve comfort and wave feel. It can also recover from smaller heel dents over time, helping the deck retain its form. This balance of carbon response, Innegra reinforcement and memory-foam damping is the main distinction of the D/LAB version.
Sizes and Specifications
The Blur D/LAB is available in 5’3”, 5’6” and 5’9”. The 5’3” measures 17 3/4 inches wide by 2 1/8 inches thick, carries 20.77 litres, suits riders from 45 to 70 kg and has a stated board weight of 2.48 kg. The 5’6” is 18 1/4 inches wide by 2 5/16 inches thick, carries 24.14 litres, targets riders from 55 to 75 kg and weighs 2.78 kg. The 5’9” measures 18 3/4 inches by 2 1/2 inches, carries 27.83 litres, is recommended for riders above 80 kg and weighs 3.01 kg.
Every size is supplied around the TS-M fin-set specification. Duotone states that board weights may vary by plus or minus six percent. The rider-weight ranges overlap, allowing selection to account for wave power, riding style and the amount of volume and rail length a rider prefers rather than relying on body weight alone.
