The Duotone Volt SLS is a small-wave surfboard designed to retain speed, responsiveness and riding interest when the surf provides limited power. Its updated shape uses a shorter, rounder outline with extra width under the front foot, giving the rider a supportive platform through soft sections without making the board feel cumbersome. A low entry rocker and double-concave bottom work together to generate speed, making the Volt SLS a practical choice for riders who want to turn marginal wave days into active sessions while retaining useful performance as conditions improve.
Shape and Performance
The low entry rocker reduces the amount of curve presented to the water at the nose, encouraging efficient planing and early acceleration. The double concave beneath the board manages water flow and contributes drive. By shortening and rounding the outline, Duotone aims to make the board easier to redirect in small waves. Extra width under the front foot increases stability and provides more planing area, allowing the board to carry momentum through less powerful sections.
Within Duotone's performance categories, the Volt SLS favours freeride early planing and stability, along with speed creation and snappy turns in medium waves. It retains enough pop for airs and spinning to broaden its use, but its central purpose is small-wave riding rather than pure freestyle or maximum control in large surf. SLS Construction
SLS stands for Strong Light Superior, and this version combines an updated layup with an Innegra Shield. Innegra fibres provide a lightweight, durable structure with improved dent and crack resistance, while their damping properties reduce unwanted vibration. Replacing conventional fibreglass with Innegra in the construction is intended to maintain precise, predictable response without unnecessary weight. A carbon stringer adds longitudinal stiffness and sharpens the connection between rider input and the board's reaction.
The Cork Shock Absorber 2.0 is applied in high-pressure areas to absorb impacts. Cork can reform after compression, helping to limit visible dents while maintaining board integrity and a comfortable ride. Optimised bamboo layers and composite materials tune both flex and torsional response, creating an agile platform that can load through turns without feeling uncontrolled. Grab rails support secure handling in strapless manoeuvres and add reinforcement along the rails.
The board uses Duotone's Multibox, a Futures-compatible fin system with side set screws and no rear tab. It is designed to hold fins securely and accurately, accept suitable composite or aftermarket Futures fins, and remain straightforward to install or remove after exposure to salt and sand.
Sizes and Specifications
Three sizes are offered. The 4’11” measures 18 15/16 inches by 2 1/8 inches, carries 20.80 litres, suits riders from 50 to 70 kg and has a stated board weight of 2.70 kg. The 5’1” measures 19 3/16 inches by 2 3/16 inches, carries 22.50 litres, targets 70 to 90 kg and weighs 2.80 kg. The 5’3” measures 19 7/16 inches by 2 5/16 inches, carries 24.80 litres, is aimed at riders above 85 kg and weighs 2.95 kg. All use the TS-M fin set, and board weights carry a stated tolerance of plus or minus six percent.
