At A Glance

The Vapor waist harness sits just beneath PROLIMIT's top-of-the-range hardshell harness, 'The Alpha'. Equipped with the very best science, design and materials, this pre-shaped moulded hardshell harness offers endless support, comfort and stability whilst not being quite as stiff as the full carbon Alpha.

The Vapor is made out of a Pure TM composite shell with Flex-Gen memory foam equipped in the areas that need it most. Paired with the titanium electroplated Alpha bar, this system is solid when locked in and prevents the bar from riding up.

This harness still gives you the hard shell solid feel, but as it is not carbon but rather a composite shell, it offers a little more flex and movement. With this harness offering a little more flex, it may best be suited for those directional riders who are constantly turning on waves. The Alpha spreader bar has a quick and easy lock-in system with easily adjustable tighteners to offer the perfect fit. Once your fit is set, simply lock it in, and you shouldn't find yourself readjusting again. The hook is also a great size and can be easily changed for a surf-slide rope.

Best compared to a Mystic Majestic, the PROLIMIT Vapor comes in 3 colours. Black/Orange (which is the one we have tested), Black/Red and Black/White. As for price, it sits at €379 and comes in a full range of sizes.

Sizes: XS, S, M, L, XL

On The Water

The harness has what feels like an identical fit to the PROLIMIT Alpha. It's fairly small and perfectly fits the curvature of your back. With it not riding up, you tend to forget that the harness is even on! When harnesses ride up, it can get extremely uncomfortable, and you can find yourself adjusting your harness halfway through your session. With the Vapor, you don't have this problem. The comfort from the neoprene never rubs and keeps you wanting to stay out there longer!

The harness fits very true to size. I'm a 30-31 on the waist, and the small fit perfectly. With plenty of straps to alter the size, there'll be lots of flexibility if your sizing does change over time. One thing I couldn't see on this harness was a safety knife slot. I know this is something some water users like to have, so if you do opt for this harness, maybe you would attach that to a pocket in your wetsuit. The harness also comes with a handle pass leash, so it would be a great option for freestyle kiters.

Overall

If you want to invest in a solid harness that offers tremendous support, check out the Vapor! It offers great comfort and doesn't ride up, two important qualities. With it being cheaper than the carbon hardshell, it won't make a big dent in the bank and would definitely last for a long time. You can tell it's very well built and includes all the required features needed on a successful harness. The Alpha spreader bar pairs fantastically with the harness, offering an awesome, locked-in feel.

Harnesses are something you should really invest in. It's what connects you to your equipment and keeps you shredding out on the water for longer! With the technology rapidly changing in this sector, PROLIMIT has really hit the ground running with their new fleet of harnesses, and the Vapor is one our team highly recommend.

Liam fell in love with all Watersports after completing numerous seasons aboard, he then picked up kiting whilst in the warm tropics of the Carribean and has been obsessed ever since! Anyone that knows him would say it's near the only thing he talks about (which drives some crazy), and he loves to keep up to date with all the latest news, equipment and events that kiting has to offer. Liam also runs his own Watersports Centre along the south coast of the UK, LOOP Watersports, which is where our IKSURFMAG Test Centre is located!
