The 50fifty is a new board in the range for Nobile, Mike Blomvall is the inspiration behind it and the board is aimed at the new school and wakestyle riders out there. It comes equipped with inserts for straps and bindings and small 3.5cm G10 fins. It’s the first time we have seen small fins on a production board and it is a nod towards the nature of this beast. You will notice the striking channels that have been pressed into the board, it isn’t shaped, rather moulded and pressed. In addition the board has a fairly large continuous rocker and progressive flex. Out of the box the 50fifty certainly looks the part.

On the Water

We have to be honest here, it has been a while since we have come across a board this good. This really is a high performance machine that knows no limits. In flat water it rides really well and is quick and nimble underfoot. Loading up the edge delivers an explosive pop that leaves you wanting more and more. This board just loves to be thrown into the air, landings are smooth and easy, the channels break the surface tension of the water and soften the blow. Getting into some choppy water was where it impressed us the most though. We thought with the high performance flex and shape the 50fity would be difficult to contain in the rough stuff. On the contrary the underside channelling and the rocker line combine to smooth out the ride making it one of the most comfortable boards we have ridden this year. Upwind it really flies and the edge holds endless grip, the small fins will feel strange to some, but if you want to be landing spins and passes they allow for a certain margin of error.

For

Fast, nimble and so smooth through the rough stuff, this is a great board that will put a huge smile on the face of whoever is thrashing it.

Against

We only have one of them in the office and fights are breaking out when the wind gets up!

Overall

A blistering ride in the chop and the flat the 50fifty is sure to impress the hardened freestylers and even the freeriders out there!
