If you didn’t know where this video was filmed, would you have guessed? We don’t often see videos from this faraway destination, nor do we get to see such epic conditions. Rufus Blackwell made the journey to Vietnam and captured these incredible sessions with some unique angles.
Rufus said: “I was recently in Phan Rang Vietnam, we had amazing conditions, but because Vietnam is almost covid free, there are very strict requirements for entry. The upshot is almost empty seas with perfect conditions, we had up to 6m waves and 35-45kts of wind. I was there with 3 of Vietnams best kitesurfers, a trio of brothers who pioneered the sport at My Hoa Lagoon. So we set up a shoot and had a lot of fun.
I have an Inspire 2 drone, probably the only drone that could handle the 45-knot gusts, so I was able to get it the 1km or so out to the reef and capture the following video. Using new AI software I was able to upscale the drone footage from 4k to 16k, with razor-sharp resolution. This allowed me to really crop into the images and capture the action like never before.”
