A Spring Weekend Spent Right
Sat 9th May, 2026 @ 9:00 am
A spring weekend filled with warm winds, crystal-blue waters, sunshine, and female connection on the stunning island of Lefkada. At a time when, in some parts of the world, women are still forbidden from practicing sports or even leaving their homes freely, we chose to celebrate that freedom together on the sea.
The color of the water, the perfect kite conditions, and the positive energy of all the women created an unforgettable three-day gathering full of smiles, dancing, sports, and genuine connection.
Lefkada Nautical Club, member of Hellenic Sailing Federation embracing kitesurfing as a modern sailing discipline, has officially integrated it into the island’s major celebration of watersports and sailing events taking place every year in Lefkada. With this vision, the club invited local award-winning athlete and kitesurf coach Olga Botoni — also a driving force behind the women’s kite community — to organize a unique three-day spring celebration filled with wind, energy, freedom, and connection.
Lefkada once again delivered it’s world-class conditions: strong thermal winds, endless riding sessions, and an island still peaceful before the peak summer season begins. More than 60 kites — exclusively women riders — filled the spot with color, strength, and smiles, creating an atmosphere that felt more like an international celebration than a simple event.
At the iconic beach of Agios Ioannis – Mili, some of the top Greek and international kitesurf athletes were present, including Markos Psaltakis, Tom Charlton, Baptiste Bourdoulos and Cyprien Bourdoulos, confirming that Lefkada is rapidly becoming a reference point for the international kitesurfing community.
