The Cabrinha Nitro Apex 2026 is a dedicated big-air kite developed for height, hang time and progressive kite loops. Its design places predictability alongside performance, giving riders a consistent platform from their first committed loops through to more powered manoeuvres. Cabrinha has refined the model for 2026 with its updated Airframe inflation system, supported canopy construction and a high-aspect, five-strut layout intended to remain composed as wind strength and load increase.
Big-air design
The Nitro uses a five-strut airframe with high sweep, a high aspect ratio and hybrid struts. Its narrow tips allow more canopy area to be concentrated through the centre of the kite while retaining quick turning at the extremities. Cabrinha describes the resulting blend of sweep, aspect ratio and balanced arc as a way to combine big-air performance with a useful range of conditions. A forward-driving profile is intended to help the kite move efficiently through the window when the rider loads for a jump or redirects it through a loop.
The aerofoil is optimised to produce lift and remain stable at increased angles of attack. High-support bridle attachment points add structure through the upper wind range, while thinner, lower-elongation Apex bridle lines reduce the obstruction presented to the airflow and maintain direct steering. Pure Form panels improve the accuracy of the canopy’s entry shape. Together, these elements are intended to give the rider clear feedback and repeatable timing rather than an unpredictable surge of power.
Materials and reinforcement
Ultra HT material is used in the leading edge and struts. Developed for Cabrinha’s Apex series, it is specified for low elongation, reduced weight and a responsive feel under load. The canopy uses Teijin D2 ripstop, which provides bias control and recovery while remaining relatively light. Trailing-edge EVA rigidity battens help control the canopy, and durable TPU leading-edge bumpers protect the seam and fabric when the kite is on a hard surface.
The 2026 Airframe system provides single-point inflation with an emphasis on simple setup, durability and broad valve compatibility. Cabrinha also supplies the kite in an expanding backpack designed to accommodate the kite, pump and control system, with space to carry multiple kites when required.
Sizes and wind range
The Nitro Apex is available in 6m, 7m, 8m, 9m, 10m and 12m sizes. For a 75kg rider, Cabrinha lists wind ranges of 21–40, 19–38, 17–36, 15–34, 13–32 and 11–26 knots respectively. Published kite weights without the bag are 2.35kg, 2.54kg, 2.78kg, 2.99kg, 3.18kg and 3.56kg. The progression from 6m to 12m covers strong-wind big-air use while extending into the more commonly used medium sizes.
Rider profile
This is a specialist option for intermediate to expert riders prioritising powered jumping and loops. The Nitro’s five-strut support and high-aspect outline distinguish it from Cabrinha’s more general freeride models. Its predictable bar feedback is intended to help riders commit to new manoeuvres, but the performance focus and high-wind capability still suit riders with the technique to manage a fast, loaded kite. It is less about relaxed all-round versatility and more about providing a stable, efficient platform for continued big-air progression.
