Why Visit?
The area around Greifswald is beautiful and expansive, yet it remains relatively undiscovered by tourists. Greifswalder Bay is a large bay with no currents and offers several excellent kitesurfing spots. It is ideal for training and foiling, as long as you avoid the shallow water, and typically not too crowded. Kitesurfing here is not dependent on tides, and you'll be treated to memorable sunsets during the summer!
Wind and Weather
Loissin is one of the sunniest locations in Germany! The prevailing wind direction typically comes from the west, transitioning from north to east. There are also nearby areas that cater to other wind directions. Due to an additional thermal effect, easterly winds are generally stronger than predicted, with a 60% probability of wind.
From April to October, air temperatures can range between 10°C to 30°C, while water temperatures range from 10°C to 20°C. Wetsuits are highly recommended for water activities! Although kite surfing occurs during the off-season, it’s essential to wear a thick wetsuit, along with a hood, shoes, and gloves for warmth.
Getting Around
The easiest way to reach Loissin is by car. Alternatively, you can take a train to Greifswald and then take a taxi to Loissin, which costs about 25 EUR. Once you arrive, everything is conveniently close by, so you won’t need to travel far.
Food and Drink
There is a supermarket near the camping spots where you can buy food, and there are two good restaurants nearby where you can have a meal.
Nightlife
Loissin has a relaxed atmosphere. We enjoy listening to music by the campfire and having some drinks. If you're in the mood to go out, you can always head to Greifswald, where you'll find several options, including bars, a nightclub, and restaurants.
No Wind?
At Boardway, the kitesurfing center, you can rent a stand-up paddleboard (SUP) or go sailing, which is enjoyable in light wind. You can also relax at the beach. A day trip to the nearby islands of Usedom and Rügen, or a stroll in Stralsund, is highly recommended and worth your time.
Internet
The internet may not be very fast, but it is available! You can find some connections at the campsites and the kitesurfing station.
Accommodation
Many people prefer camping or staying in caravans, but if that's not your preference, there are vacation homes available for rent nearby.

Where are the Best Kitesurfing Beaches in Loissin?
Loissin's kite spot has a vast area with waist to chest-deep water. Water is flat to choppy, depending on the wind. On good days, you can even get 1.5m waves (not breaking) to play with further out.
If you stay outside the flat area, it's good for foiling. Rental and kite school are directly at the spot.
