Red Bull King of the Air is back for 2025. The craziest and most progressive kiteboard contest on the planet sees the world’s top riders head to Cape Town, South Africa, to compete against rising stars, wow the crowds and push the boundaries of the sport they love.
The Red Bull King of the Air 2025 will take place at Kite Beach, Bloubergstrand, during optimal wind and swell conditions from November 22 to December 7, 2025. This year will see British rider Francesca Maini return as the first-ever reigning women’s champion. At the same time, Italy’s Andrea Principi will hope to make it a hat-trick of Red Bull King of the Air titles in the open division.
Video Submissions
Video submissions are now officially open for Red Bull King of the Air Cape Town, taking place at the iconic Bloubergstrand. Riders from around the globe are invited to submit a 60-second video showcasing their top five tricks for a chance to earn a spot alongside the sport’s elite.
Video submissions will stay live until 10 October 2025, giving competitors from any location the chance to break into the world stage and compete against returning finalists, Qualifier event winners, and wildcard selections.
Your submission needs to bring the heat. Only original footage filmed within the last 12 months will be accepted, and clips from previous Red Bull King of the Air competitions won’t be cut. Riders can enter as many edits as they want – no limit, no excuses.
Final selections will be revealed at the end of October, with the full rider line-up made up of 2024 finalists, qualifying event winners, wildcard picks, and the best of this year’s video entries.
The judging panel will evaluate each video submission using the same criteria applied during the live event. Riders will be scored on height and extremity, variety, execution, and overall impression. These standards reflect the essence of King of the Air, where every move counts and innovation sets riders apart.
