With perfect conditions for a strapless freestyle contest, Jalou Langeree’s training paid off as she won the GKA Ceara Kite Pro and retook the overall points lead for the 2018 title race.

Opting to ride the Slash and Skater 5’2″, Jalou was feeling comfortable with confidence growing each day.

Hosted in the town of Prea, which lies southeast of Jericoacoara, this spot held up to its reputation as one of the windiest destinations in the world with non-stop, consistent wind. Throughout the contest, Jalou only used one kite, her Slash 6m.

Knowing that the world title race was getting close with only two stops remaining Jalou didn’t take any chances, arriving in Brazil 10 days before the event to train.

“Strapless freestyle isn’t my main discipline and Carla is pretty much the freestyle queen on tour. The training paid off I felt like everything just felt together my mindset was great and I was very focused,” said Jalou.

Spaniard Gustavo Arrojo, who currently sits ninth overall, also made the trip across the Atlantic from his hometown of Tarifa, Spain to compete. Despite coming away with a 6th place finish, Gustavo made his way through some brutal heats and also played a role in Jalou’s path to victory.

“Big thanks to teammate and friend Gustavo for leading me through my heats by giving me the right tips at the right time,” said Jalou.

Although she sits in first on the overall tour race, Jalou is keeping a level head looking towards the final stop in Melbourne, Australia. “I’m very aware that I can take another overall world title home if everything runs the right way, but I don’t want to get too excited about it quite yet.”
