Last years winner Sam Light!

After a few years in the wilderness the British Kitesurfing Championships is making a return, we are taking things back to basics with a view to growing this from grass roots to big things over the next few years. The new tour is backed by Kiteworld and IKSURFMAG who are supporting it fully on the ground and behind the scenes. Rou Chater has volunteered as Race Officer and will running things on location at each event, supported by Jim Gaunt and both their respective teams.

There are three weekends organised and we will be teaming up with the respective clubs to make the events happen.

30/31 May – Lancing – Hosted by Lancing Kitesurfing Club

25/26 July – Essex – Hosted by Essex Kitesurfing Club

15/16 August – Hunstanton – Hosted by Hunstanton Sailing Club

The goal at each event will be to run a full round of freestyle competition for the Juniors, Amateurs, Pro Men and Women, these fleets will be dependant on numbers of course. In addition depending on time and conditions we are hoping to feature Big Air and Downwind Slalom each weekend.

Points will be awarded at each event and these will combine towards the British Title, which will be awarded at the final event.

In addition Jim and Rou are busy liaising with the industry to ensure there is a strong presence with demo gear available at each event, the goal is for each of these events to be a great weekend not just for the riders but also the club members and local kitesurfers alike.
